3 easy tips for making healthy smoothies. Healthy smoothies are totally hip in 2018. Not only are they easy to make. Smoothies are also delicious and, if you handle it well, very healthy! In this article we take a look at the latest food craze!

1 Make cheap healthy smoothies? Easier than you think!

Many people think of smoothies as different ‘superfoods’. Although these smoothies are delicious and certainly healthy, superfoods often cost a lot of money. However, a tasty and healthy smoothie doesn’t have to be expensive. This can be done, for example, by using ingredients such as frozen fruit, oatmeal, peanut butter and many more options.

In addition, you can often get expensive ingredients cheaply by buying smartly on the market. Finally: do you want a cold smoothie but don’t use ice cream? Then just freeze your own ice cubes. It’s very easy and it’s cheap.

When you apply the above tips, even with the smallest budget, you can make healthy smoothies in an instant.

2 Need smoothie recipes? Endless varying is possible!

The great thing about smoothies is that they are so diverse. A simple smoothie with banana, orange, milk/water and ice cream is made like this. However, you can also choose to pack a lot of vegetables, fruits and maybe even seeds and nuts. Or how about this  smoothie with avocado, orange, banana and bok choy? Very tasty, very special and also very healthy!

3 Are smoothies healthy, aren’t they?

A common criticism of smoothies is that they are not healthy. Sometimes an ingredient containing a lot of sugar is used. This can be a sweet (yogurt) drink, or even ice cream. However, it is very easy to make a delicious smoothie in such a way that it is also healthy.

Especially with smoothies with ice cream, milk and/or a lot of fruit, the amount of sugar can increase considerably, sometimes up to 50 grams per glass. By comparison, a 250 ml glass of Coca-Cola will give you ‘only’ 27 grams of sugar. This doesn’t include the fibre, vitamins and minerals you’ll find in a smoothie, but still: a little less sugar doesn’t hurt!

3 easy tips for making healthy smoothies

  1. Use almond milk, soy milk, low-fat yogurt, cottage cheese or water to add to the smoothie. There’s a lot less sugar in here!
  2. Use more vegetables. This not only reduces the amount of sugar, but also a greater amount of vitamins and minerals.
  3. Use other healthy ingredients in addition to fruit and vegetables. How about oatmeal, nuts or seeds?

By being smart with the ingredients, you can make every smoothie a healthy one in no time!
