A Sneak Peek from Portugal’s Local Cuisine
The Portuguese culture is known for its rich culinary traditions, and one of the most striking aspects is the love for sweets. The Portuguese have a sweet tooth and deeply appreciate their regional specialties. Many of these sweet delicacies have their roots in the Catholic Church, where nuns and monks perfected recipes in monastery kitchens for centuries. These traditions have been preserved through generations and are now part of Portugal’s national identity. One of the most iconic and beloved desserts is the “Pastel de nata,” a creamy custard tart with a crispy puff pastry base, often sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar.
